Four checks, position count, footprint, pin rows, and plate seat, narrow it down to one of our four microplate carrier SKUs. All dimensions below are published Tecan worktable dimensions; nothing here is traced from an OEM part.
LabTechSurplus is an independent aftermarket manufacturer. This guide is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Tecan Group. It's here to help you cross-reference a worktable position to the correct replacement part.
Count the plate seats on top of the carrier. That alone gets you most of the way to the right SKU.
| Position count | Layout | Deck | Matching SKU |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Single flat seat | Low profile, flush with worktable | LTS-TEC-MTP1 → |
| 2, portrait | Two seats, portrait orientation, open rib frame | Raised ≈62.5 mm above worktable | LTS-TEC-MTP2P → |
| 3 | Three flat seats in a row | Low profile, flush with worktable | LTS-TEC-MTP3 → |
| 4 | Four flat seats in a row | Low profile, flush with worktable | LTS-TEC-MTP4 → |
Looking for a tube rack instead of a microplate carrier? See LTS-TEC-TUB30, our 30-position 15 mL tube carrier.
If two SKUs look close, these three measurements settle it.
Tecan's worktable uses a published 25 mm mounting-pin grid, and a carrier's footprint grows with its position count along that grid. As a rule of thumb, more positions means a longer carrier. Treat this as an orientation check, not exact fit: confirm the precise bounding box against the spec table on the matching SKU page.
Flip the carrier over. Single-position carriers seat on one row of pin slots; 3- and 4-position carriers seat on three rows, spaced at the published Tecan worktable dimensions of 104.6 mm (front↔mid) and 125.8 mm (mid↔rear).
The pocket that holds the microplate itself measures approximately 127 × 85.5 mm, the standard ANSI/SLAS microplate footprint used across every carrier we make. If your seat is a different size, you likely have a non-microplate accessory, not a carrier.
Two Tecan worktable accessories get mistaken for a plain microplate carrier. Neither is something we carry yet.
Has a rectangular read window cut through the body for a barcode scanner underneath. A plain carrier has a solid deck under each seat, no window.
Has embedded magnets under the plate seat for bead-based separation protocols. A plain carrier has no magnets, it's a passive mechanical seat only.
If your part is one of these, or something else entirely, tell us what it is on Custom Replacement. We may be able to build it.
